The Government Commercial Organisation is the senior leadership department withing the Government Commercial Function department. We bring together the very best commercial talent from across the Government and the Civil Service.

We’re responsible for contracts worth about £49 billion of taxpayer money each year. It’s our duty to ensure the taxpayer gets tangible value for money and we deliver impressive and impactful results with it.

OUR WORK

At the Government Commercial Organisation, people, community, and care are at the heart of everything we do.

We’re delivering contracts for Freeports that help create new jobs, boost investment, and increase manufacturing in some of the UK’s most deprived areas.

We’re making sure that some of the most rural areas of the UK can access the internet and stay connected with the work and people that matters to them.

We continue to create more opportunities for people to quickly upskill as HGV drivers to keep the country moving during challenging times.

We’ve implementing the resources and services needed to deliver a new disability benefits scheme for people in Northern Ireland who affected mentally or physically by the troubles.

We delivered contracts that resulted in the crucial production of thousands of COVID tests for people who needed them during the pandemic.

And that’s just a snapshot of the breadth of projects our team get involved in. Whether it’s getting important IT equipment into schools, supporting the police and the military in their efforts to protect the public, making sure that hospitals and vital ambulance services have the resources and tools they need to save lives, or even reacting quickly in times of national emergency – the scale and variety of projects we’re involved in are unimaginable.
